Revelation 15 James

The Letter of James

Authorship:     In scripture there are four James mentioned, it is reported that the Letter of James in Scripture is to have been written by the half brother of Jesus, James.  According to Matthew 13:55 "Is not this the carpenter's son?  is not his mother called Mary?  and his brethren (80), James, and Jose, and Simon, and Judas

James the son of ZEBEDEE and brother of John as mentioned is not the author of the Epistle of James because as mentioned in Acts12:1-2 "Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.  And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.  And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also.  (Then were the days of unleavened bread)".

As stated above scripture declares James, son of ZEBEDEE and brother of John, suffered martyrdom under Herod Agrippa I prior to the writing of The Epistle of James.  According to Mark 1:19 which states "And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of ZEBEDEE, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets".  20 "And straightway he called them: and they left their father ZEBEDEE in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him."

According to Mark 3:18 James the son of ALPHAEUS is not the author of the Letter of James.

According to Luke 6:16 James the son of Judas (not Iscariot) is not the author of the Letter of James.

According to Galatians 1:19 James the half brother of Jesus is the rightful author of the Epistle of James.

Background:

Audience:     The Epistle of James is written to all maturing Christians.  It is a  no-nonsence book of being in the will of God and acting according to His direction.  It does not prove actions are parallel to righteousness but actions according to the will of God are in the path of  life,,,are you willing to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

This Letter written by James did in its inception have an audience of the 12 tribes scattered from Jerusalem by the spread of paganism.

Canonicity:     This letter proves itself over and over through the other writtings of Scripture that it belongs in the Bible.  If a writting walks hand in hand with other Scripture it makes a case for its place in the Bible.  This as well as the other writings in the Bible prove worthiness to be in the Bible.
